SummerStage, a program of City Parks Foundation, presents performances of outstanding artistic quality, free of charge, to serve the diverse communities of New York City since 1986! Each year consists of a diverse lineup representing a breadth of genres and cultures and perform in an outdoor setting accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. It must be noted that all shows go on RAIN OR SHINE and are only canceled in the event of dangerous lightning during a performance. I once stood in the rain to catch TV on the Radio’s set and was completely drenched but it was worth it.

This past June, we attended the The Creators Project, an Intel and VICE-headed event series that launched in New York at Milk Studios. It was the first of four events and it was truly groundbreaking event -highlighting the best of today’s musical acts, art, and installations, with a wide range of interesting panel discussions. See our coverage from the event here.
We were pretty thrilled to hear that The Creators Project is teaming up with the Coachella Music and Arts Festival this year! Coachella always has the most amazing lineups and they’ve just released this year’s roster. Some of the bands we’re excited about are Arcade Fire (first saw them in 2004 and it was awesome), Suede (so major!), Cut Copy, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and it looks like Death From Above 1979 are reuniting for the show too.
Wth the Creators Project collaborating with the festival this year, we can only imagine how much fun and inspiring the three day event will be. It will definitely add a new visual aspect to the festival as they will teaming up with headlining acts to create new works of art, curate art installations on the festival grounds, and also bringing some of their favorite International musical acts to perform too.
The Creators Project will be making a HUGE announcement on February 16th with more details. Stay tuned here.
We’ve already marked our calendars for April 15th-17th!

From Brooklyn to Brazil to Boston, the fashion industry is gearing up for this year’s global extravaganza Fashion’s Night Out!
Last year’s event was pretty epic, with a night full of shopping events, parties, and surprises we’re looking forward to September 10th’s festivities. We caught The Rapture play at the Prada store in Soho last year and it was amazing! Be prepared and check out the event listings to plan out your night here. You can plan your night right on the official FNO site. We’re already scoping out our picks for the night.
Events we’re excited for:
Ben Sherman will be hosting a party from 6 – 10pm, we have playing in the store 2 of the hottest acts around DJing, first off are New York’s own Pains of Being Pure at Heart followed up by a storming set by UK act Does It Offend You, Yeah, who are taking time out from the Nylon US tour where they are supporting Kele from Bloc Party. Come down enjoy a few beers and sample some smooth Glenmorangie whiskey. We also have something very special happening outside the store on the night but you will have to come down to see what is going on- you might get lucky!

SIREN MUSIC FESTIVAL sponsored by the Village Voice returns to Coney Island this Saturday, July 17th from noon – 9pm to celebrate its tenth anniversary! And the best part is that it’s FREE!
Fourteen bands will perform on two stages with a lineup consisting of local NY bands and touring headlining acts such as Matt & Kim, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.
