It’s time for Sole Commerce in New York! Vegas was fun in the sun but we have to say we’re ready for the East Coast again.
This year, the show will be held at Pier 94 (55th Street and the West Side Highway) from Feb. 20-22nd. There will be free shuttles from Coterie at the Javits Center to Pier 94.
Come to booth 2852 and preview the latest collections…

At Sole Commerce last week, we felt nostalgic for our beginning years- when we were so excited about the trade shows that we would spend hours planning and decorating the booth. At the beginning we had to work harder to attract our customers and make our presence memorable.
Here’s a couple images from those first couple presentations. Wow, did we have energy to build things or what!

One time we even built a bedroom set and made a duvet cover and pillow set from our signature orange and cream striped lining! Well, like many things in Vegas, it was fun while it lasted. But then we had to break down that bed and dispose of it in the desert heat (not fun in Vegas).
In more recent times we’ve simplified the booth design to almost no design. Are we lazy? Or did we realize that all that hard labor may not have paid off in sales and perhaps our efforts are better spent at other forms of marketing? After all, the shoe designs are what really sell the collection and now many customers already know the brand. However, where’s the happy medium?
Here’s some booths at Sole Commerce last week that were notable for being decorative and (key word) portable.

Our handsome friend Ben Duensing from Vintage Footwear and Korkease. Sunflowers and wooden milk crates- easy peasy….
At The Furies, just a handful of origami butterflies made the difference.

At Civic Duty they covered the wall in Tyvek (the material they are making the shoes from) and attached the footwear to the wall with velcro tape. Bravo!

We’re showing at Sole Commerce at the Javits Center from September 21st-23rd!
Stop by our Booth 3763 (Level 3).
Wow, what a crazy week! Selling, Shipping, Snowing, Seeing our Spring Shoe in Elle…. what else could we ask for?
Upon returning to New York from Las Vegas we went right into New York Market with Sole Commerce at the Javits Center. This was part of a larger show called The Coterie. We were happy that the shoe segment was sitting close to contemporary apparel- yet another example of the market developing around the lifestyle trend.

Our sales team had it under control, so we made our way to Rendevous NY and The Train and Designers and Agents. While the majority of the Footwear action is definitely at Sole Commerce, we noticed some great brands like Coclico, Chie Mihara, Modern Vintage and Rosegold chose these other venues. We’re welcoming newcomer MaraisUSA to the shoe scene.

Later in the week we went to the opening of the art show titled ROMANCE 2010. We loved the dining room display with a ten course meal of real food integrated with everyday objects. Our favorite was the Shoe Soup and the Deep Fried Bra. The exhibit is up until Feb 28th at 447 HUDSON ST. (AT MORTON).
