Last night we kicked off New York Fashion Week 2010 with BB Dakota at the hip downtown haunt Chloe 81. We celebrated the night with the musical stylings of DJs Spencer Product, Jacques Renault (Runaway/On the Prowl), and Pop Justice aka Colleen Nika. The place was packed all night with happy party-goers. To top it all off, party-goers were greeted with yummy lollipops. Who doesn’t love sweets?
Since 2005 BB Dakota has been creating fashion for the contemporary woman at a competitive price-point. Fashion that’s affordable…our favorite! The look is “citified prep, Americana with a quirky, feminine twist.”
We chatted with designer Katharine Brandes about the Spring/Summer 2011 Collection that debuted at MAGIC tradeshow in Vegas just weeks ago. Interested in taking masculine trends and translating them into a more feminine aesthetic – this season’s line features military accents and loose, boyish silhouettes juxtaposed with softer, more delicate fabrics. What we love most about BB Dakota is there’s something for every woman in each collection. This collection boasts hyper-sexy bandage skirts to vibrant prints (I love a good print!) and slinky dresses.
Here’s a preview from BB Dakota’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection:
2010 marks 80%20 Footwear’s Fifth Year, a coming of age for a New York based brand that has grown from its street culture roots into an internationally loved brand with a strong cult following. Our line is now sold in 15 countries, delivering four distinctive collections a year to shoppers across North America, Europe and Asia. Ce Ce explains, “80%20 has always been designed with that exploratory, Renaissance woman in mind- it makes sense that the shoes have found their way to the corners of the world.”
Thank you to all of our loyal fans for all of your support throughout the years!
We’ll be posting coverage and photos from our event soon. Keep checking out the blog!
The opening night party featured a DJ set by KCRW’s Jason Bentley, a live performance by L.A.’s very own, The Like and delicious food by Umami Burger at Urban Outfitters Space15Twenty.
Last night, Loomstate and friends celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day at Good Units at Hudson by hosting a great party, OUR MAGNIFICENT EARTH.
The event offered face painting, psychic readings, a 20 foot tall pyramid interactive psychedelic installation, and the highlight of the evening was the 40 Drummers Ceremony led by Hisham Akira Bharoocha of Soft Circle. We had a fabulous time at the party!
Here’s a video from a portion of last night’s drum circle. (via OAK)
