Holy Ghost! | Wait and See

Posted on by Kristina

LCD Soundsystem might have bid farewell but DFA continues to release some awesome tunes.  We’ve been fans of Holy Ghost! for a few years now; their early single “Hold On” is still infectious (you know you love it too).

Their new single “Wait and See” is equally infectious and just a rad synth pop song.  Last Friday, we had a chance to see the band perform to a sold-out crowd at Music Hall of Williamsburg.  It’s always refreshing to go to a show and see people dancing! People still do dance at shows!

Here’s the video for “Wait and See”:

Fun tidbit:  The leads in the video are played by Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser’s dads!  Brings a smile to your face, no?

CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival

CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival happens every Fall in New York and is an awesome platform for discovering new music and films.  For five nonstop days and nights, there are over 1,200 live performances in more than 75 venues across the city.  In addition to showcases there are plenty of Q&As, panels, seminars, and other special events.  Official CMJ events require you to register and have a badge but have no fear, there are lots of parties that are free or you can pay for entry at the door.

CMJ kicked off yesterday and we heard rave reviews from the IAMSOUND (love Kisses, Salem, and Restless People) showcase at Santos Party House.  We’re sad we missed it but here are some parties that we’re going to hit up for the rest of the week!

Holy Ghost! live at Under 100

Posted on by Kristina

We’ve shown love for NYC-based band Holy Ghost! on the blog in the past and this weekend we had the chance to catch their first ever live show!  We had a great time dancing with our friends from ‘Sup Magazine at Damon Dash’s Under 100 venue in Tribeca.  It’s been three years since the band dropped their hit track, “Hold On” and we’ve waited patiently for new material.  We can gladly say it was well worth the wait!

Joining Nick and Alex was a full band including, Chris Glover, aka Penguin Prison, on tambourine and backing vox.   Caroline Polacheck from Chairlift also made a surprise appearance to sing on the closing number number, “I Know, I Hear.”  We had an amazing time…thanks DFA! Holy Ghost!’s EP Static on the Wire drops today.

Here’s some video and images by Abbey Braden of ‘Sup Mag:

Holy Ghost! – I Will Come Back

Posted on by Kristina

DFA artist Holy Ghost will be supporting labelmates LCD Soundsystem on their upcoming Spring tour. We first fell in love with the song, “Hold On” and it’s been almost two years since the band’s newest release, “I Will Come Back.”

The Juan Maclean and LCD Soundsystem member Nancy Whang and legendary producer Arthur Baker both make appearances in the video.
