“We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams” is a quote taken from Ode by Arthur O’Shaughnessy via the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
A bit of whimsy and playful type, this is MaricorMaricar‘s largest piece to date at A1. We find the quote and work quite charming!
A limited edition of 100 signed and numbered A2 prints of the artwork are now available. Head to their store for more details.

Berlin-based artist Olafur Eliasson has taken his art to the skies by creating a “moveable rainbow” above the the roof of the ARoS Aarhus Kuntsmuseum in Denmark.
Titled Your Rainbow Panorama, according to Wired UK it consists of
a 150-metre-long and three-metre-wide self-contained circular walkway with glass that moves through all of the colours of the spectrum. The 52-metre-diameter walkway …[Is located] 3.5 metres above the roof and stretches like a multi-coloured halo — supported by 12 slender columns.
Though it was conceived in 2006, the piece has been under construction until this May when it was finally unveiled to the public. Tinted in rainbow colors, this paneled walkway allows viewers to see the city through a technicolor lens, which Eliasson hopes will allow visiters to “erase the boundary between inside and outside” and find ” a place where you become a little uncertain as to whether you have stepped into a work of art or into part of the museum.” (via PSFK)
‘the maison in a room’ is a space entirely redesigned and redecorated by Belgian fashion designer maison martin margiela at 10 corso como. the atmosphere of the room draws on his iconographic use of black and white furniture, objects, fabrics and textures. trompe l’oeil walls of this parisian apartment show a fireplace, doors and carved wood panels to build on the space’s personality.
Referencing the coloring games played by children, the walls are displayed with partially empty numbered zones to be re-colored in different shades of grey and silver. safes are half hidden behind classical paintings to display jewelry while sunglasses are presented on the eyes of surrealistic dolls.
‘the maison in a room’ is occupied by additional designs by margiela including: his complete collection of home objects edited by ENO, the maison martin margiela book published by rizzoli, ‘untitled’ his first fragrance for women, his jewelry collection, his complete collection of ‘incognito’ sunglasses and his hand-knotted wool and silk rug which came out of his collaboration with chevalier édition.

“Throughout history artists have lent their creative expression to issues of culture & politics. They combine innovation with art’s greatest strength – the ability to transcend boundaries and make an impact, while not relying solely on language. We would like to invite you to join together with many of today’s top contemporary artists, hundreds of volunteers, sponsors and grass roots organizers to send a loud message that the time has come to fix our ailing public school system.”

Today’s our last day in Vegas for Project and FN Platform and we’ve been surrounded by the latest in apparel and accessories design. It’s been great to see old friends and make new ones but we’re looking forward to heading back to New York. We’ve worked and played hard in Vegas and can’t wait to share with you our recap next week…stay tuned!
The convention centers in Las Vegas are massive and the number of booths can get overwhelming and it’s really easy to feel small in the space, so when we found this image of Charles LeDray’s work it was quite refreshing.
LeDray’s latest exhibit, CHARLES LEDRAY: workworkworkworkwork is currently on display at the ICA in Boston and will travel to the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. On display are 50 sculptures and installations, from LeDray’s early works to the first U.S. presentation ofMENS SUITS (2006-2009), his highly acclaimed project presenting three complex, small-scale vignettes of second-hand clothing shops.
We’re starting a new series on the blog, featuring the latest and greatest in Shoe Art!
When we first came across this piece, we found it quite clever! To walk or to ride?
UK designer Max Knight created “The Walking Bike,” a bicycle made from a standard frame but with wheels made from eight different pairs of shoes topped with black ankle socks!
The Greater New York exhibit opens Sunday at PS 1 in Long Island City and will run through October 18th. Covering a full range of practices and media, the artists in Greater New York are inspired by this great cityand the “exhibitioncenters largely on the process of creation and the generative nature of the artist’s studio and practice.” Many featured artists have been commissioned to work in residence in MoMA PS1’s gallery space to shoot photographs and video, rehearse and realize performances, and stretch the notions of sculpture, painting, photography, film, and video-making.
