80%20 featured in Highsnobette’s Best of 2012

Posted on by Ce Ce

During the flurry of New Year’s eve hugs, kisses, and texts, I received a email from a friend congratulating me for making it to High Snobette’s Best of 2012 list.  Most of you may know their related menswear blog sites such as Selectism and High Snobiety.   Here’s what they had to say….

“80%20 Original Hidden Wedge—while a lot of credit for the hidden wedge movement is given to the talented Isabel Marant, truth be told it was New-York designer Ce Ce Chin, who first launched the modern day version of the concept. Our favorite style this year was the smart ‘Pepper’ wedge ankle boot, though we also adored the brand’s ‘Edie’, not a wedge, rather an open-toed loafer that speaks to Chin’s finesse for staying one innovative step ahead of the competition”.

Fall 2012 Video Lookbook featuring Trop Rouge’s Christina Caradona

We’re proud to present our Fall 2012 video, featuring style blogger Christina Caradona of Trop Rouge. Our Creative Director Ce Ce Chin was inspired to feature someone who truly embodies the Eighty Twenty Do-It-Yourself spirit and was immediately drawn to collaborate with Caradona, one of her favorite style bloggers and supporters of the brand. As Ce Ce explains, the brand is “about the 20% of your life that makes 80% of the difference” and Caradona, a gorgeous self starter in the fashion and entertainment industry, not only possesses a unique sense of style but is living the life she loves in pursuit of her dreams.

Photographed at Life:Curated in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

For the video lookbook, Christina explores Brooklyn neighborhoods Williamsburg and Greenpoint in our shoes.  And… she even skateboards, in 80%20 wedges! The soundtrack “Boy” is provided by up-and coming indie quartet Those Darlins from their sophomore album, Screws Get Loose. “There’s a natural synthesis of working with a rising indie band and an ambitious, entrepreneurial muse”.

This Fall, the brand offers an eclectic array of pieces that transition the working city girl into her weekends – from attending art openings, to concert-going, and hanging out around town. Ce Ce presents classic silhouettes with modern twists, such as, the Quimby printed haircalf and kidskin leather creepers, the Eliotte Original Hidden Wedge™ desert boots in a variety of materials – pony printed leather, festive textiles, and traditional wool, and the Mag contrast bottomed ankle strap flatforms. Lush pebbled nubuck leathers and eye-popping prints adorn the Fall 2012 line. Also keep an eye out for new heeled styles such as the Larson and the Callie. The collection ranges from $99 to $250, proving there’s something for every fashionista at every price point. Find select Fall 2012 styles in our online shop and stores across the country and internationally.

It was great to collaborate with Christina on this project and support her in all of her future endeavors.

80%20 x Select Summer Fridays | August 3rd, 2012

Posted on by Kristina

After a long work week, everyone deserves to reward themselves with a daytime cocktail or two, danceable tunes, and good company. In it’s second year, Jules Kim (Bijules) and Katie Longmyer (Good Peoples) continue their partnership with The Standard Rooftop at the Highline to present Select Summer Fridays, mixing the fashion, creative, and nightlife worlds during the day. Refreshing right?

Select Summer Fridays has become a staple event on our calendar and it only seemed natural to team up with Jules and Katie to host one of the best parties in town! Last Friday, in celebration of our upcoming Fall 2012 collection, we co-hosted the event and engaged with the community – from stylists to editors, you name it. Cara Buckley of The New York Times was also in attendance covering the event and spoke with Ce Ce on her new perspective on the club-drenched neighborhood and why she loves Select Summer Fridays. “The meatpacking gets a bad rap, and it lives up to its rap after 11 p.m.,” said Ce Ce Chin, the designer of the shoe brand 80%20, and among the afternoon’s hosts. “But this is different. More grown-up.” To read the entire article, head over to www.nytimes.com.

Mingling was had, delicious cocktails were sipped, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! Thank you to everyone who came out to support the event! Here are a few snapshots from last Friday’s party.
