Pulse New York
When I first saw Megan Whitmarsh‘s art at Miami Basel, I wondered if the artist was the same one who attended Ann Arbor Community High School with me. I remembered a quiet fashionable artist who spent most of her time in the open studio. I googled her and found she was already in my Facebook network through mutual high school alumni.
Now, she’s the first person I ever introduced myself to without really knowing on Facebook. Here’s some images of her work at the Pulse New York show last week. We love her “stuffed” installation of her workspace. There were fabric expressions of her art tools- a sewing machine, computer monitor, sharpie pens and scissors. She doesn’t miss a detail, even the plants are stuffed and the garbage can too- with stuffed garbage.
On the opposite end of the art spectrum was a digital color display by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer called “Company of Colors”. A camera captured our image in three stages. Can you tell its us?
