Passion Pit at Governors Island

Posted on by Kristina

Last night, we took a trip to Governors Island, just a ferry ride away from Manhattan to check out Passion Pit‘s live show to a sold-out crowd.  If was our first venture over to Governors Island and the weather was just perfect.  When we arrived at the ferry dock, we did get a little nervous to see the super long line, which was the length of about 3 city blocks.  We weren’t sure how it was going to be like coming back after the show, but we’re glad to say that we made it back in one piece and in a timely fashion.

When we arrived we caught Tokyo Police Club‘s set playing one of our favorites, “Nature of the Experiment” and they definitely warmed up the crowd for Passion Pit.

As soon as Passion Pit stepped on stage, the crowd went crazy. Passion Pit’s lead singer, Michael Agelakos proclaimed, “Last night at Prospect Park was the biggest show we’ve ever played, but tonight’s show at Governor’s Island is now the biggest show we’ve ever played” and the crowd roared. With only one full length album, Manners and an EP, the band played pretty seamlessly from one song into the next, the synths were blaring and there were plenty of bright lights illuminating the stage.  From “I’ve Got Your Number,” to”Little Secrets” and “The Reeling” – the crowd was singing and dancing along for the duration of the show.

We had a fun time and it was really nice to finally have a seat on the Water Taxi ride back to Manhattan after all that dancing.
