Meet The Team
Ce Ce Chin, Creative Director
“When I was about 9, I asked for Fashion Plates for my birthday. This was an artsy toy- by using several interchangeable tracing plates, you could create an image of a woman in various fashionable outfits. Perhaps my dream to move to New York and be a fashion designer began back then.”
Ce Ce’s history in accessories stretches back almost 10 years, having worked with some of the most celebrated names in fashion including Michael Kors and Calvin Klein. While refining her design aesthetic from these leaders, Ce Ce developed an understanding of the market and an eye for what’s to come. Confident that she had the vision to develop a line of her own, Ce Ce played the game of risk and stepped out to create her first collection.
Early on Ce Ce found a niche for herself in shoe design where she fell in love with the creativity and artistry behind a collection. Her initial line of hand painted slip on sneakers debuted at Steven Alan and sold out immediately.
Her first collection was a direct channel of her expression- a true reflection of her style. She felt there was a need in market for something she could really wear to design. For her, designing is not so much about sitting down at a desk, but about being out in the world and noticing how people express themselves through their own style. “I might sketch shoes on napkins or receipts while doing this. Then there’s the basis for my design. One of the things I found inspiring was the physical relationship shoes have with travel, that’s something I’ve always found exciting” Ce Ce explains, “I love the way shoes can take a woman across a neighborhood or across the world, there is something very romantic about that”.
While not designing and running her small shoe empire, Ce Ce’s travels and personal life provide the fire and fuel for each collection she is developing. From surfing to vintage pop culture and fashion iconography, Ce Ce is always aware of the smallest nuance or moment that could become her next inspiration.
