Getting Lauren into anything other than four inch heels or her $hitkicker wedge boots can be a challenge, but when she saw these 80%20 suede brogues she instantly fell in lust. And good luck trying to get them off her feet after she realized how comfortable they were. As usual, I was reminded of our daily frustration – we’re not the same shoe size.

Paired with some cuffed black jeans, a studded belt and her boyfriend’s vintage tee it was the perfect outfit for a low-key dinner at one of our favorite nearby spots, Traif .
Insider tip: If you ever get a chance to check the place out yourself, don’t forget to order the bacon doughnuts. They’re almost as drool-worthy as these shoes.

What is The Marcy Stop? It’s a New York fashion blog that’s the brainchild of two friends and neighbors living and swapping clothes in Williamsburg, Brooklyn just off the Marcy Stop of the JMZ subway line. Here are a few things to keep in mind about Micol (the photographer) and Lauren (her muse) as they join 80%20 as guest bloggers this month:

Lauren: total Francofile, graphic artist/designer/sometimes painter, California girl at heart, of Vietnamese descent, has been known to spontaneously break out into a British accent.

Micol: Baker, half-marathon runner, closeted writer, Jameson enthusiast, tech nerd, of Sicilian heritage, will spontaneously break out into a Southern accent.

Mutual Loves: cocktails, Alexander Wang, Pies ‘n’ Thighs, summer/the beach, home cooking, travel, dance parties, oysters, accents, our neighborhood, and our bike gang: the Southside Heartbreakers.

Our daily frustration: we’re not the same shoe size…

We’ll be kicking off our third season, next weekend on SATURDAY, APRIL 28 with a high energy Opening Day celebration with a special DJ set from NYC’s feel-good synth-pop band BUBBLES! With one-of-a-kind shopping and more food than ever before, this is one party that you do not want to miss! As you stroll through our beautiful tree-lined park, you’ll find handcrafted accessories, original art, indie designers and mouthwatering delights that you didn’t even know you were dreaming of. Plus, our market offers the opportunity to meet the artists, vendors and farmers behind the work – it’s a trip worth making." target="_blank">The Hester Street Fair officially kicked off this past week. I can’t believe the fair is already in it’s third year! Whether you’re looking for delectable treats or handcrafted accessories, there’s something for everyone. The best part is that you can meet the artists and vendors behind the work.

Some of my Hester Street Fair food favorites are:

La Newyorkina’s handmade gourmet ice pops are so amazing and the best treat on a hot summer’s day. Be adventurous, the pops aren’t your ordinary popsicle stand flavors. Come ready to try mango-chile and avocado!,

Luke’s Lobster makes Maine-style rolls! The seafood is served chilled atop a buttered and toasted New England-style, split-top bun with a swipe of mayo, a sprinkle of lemon butter and a dash of secret spices. If you like crab rolls, they have them too. I’m getting hungry thinking about it!

Over eight consecutive nights, MoMA presented a retrospective of the visual experiments of Kraftwerk with a live presentation in the Museum’s Marron Atrium. Each evening consisted of a live performance accompanied by 3-D visuals of one of Kraftwerk’s studio albums—Autobahn (1974), Radio-Activity (1975), Trans-Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), Computer World (1981), Techno Pop (1986),The Mix (1991), and Tour de France (2003)—in the order of their release.

As soon as the tickets went on sale, I was sitting at my desk (like almost every other person I know) with a computer screen filled with multiple ticket windows, just hoping I would be able to score at least one ticket. No such luck…but then a week before the event was set to kick off, JACKPOT! Thanks to Roy Dank (Wurst), I happily joined him for night 3 – Trans-Europe Express.

The performance started promptly at 8:30PM, and it was two-hours of pure bliss. The sound was amazing and the 3-D visuals were top-notch. It was truly such a memorable evening and I’m glad that I can say “I was there.”
