“Meanwhile, “Sex and the City” fans have been scouring the book with a Trekkie-like zeal. Ce Ce Chin, creative director at 80%20 Shoes, recounted buying the novel at Hong Kong International Airport. At first she thought it was an unauthorized Chinese knockoff.
“You know, it’s a fun book, but I felt like I’d gotten ripped off,” said Ms. Chin, a New Yorker in her mid-30s. “It felt like it was maybe a counterfeit.”
Ms. Chin pointed out that, in the fourth season of the television show, Carrie revealed that her father ditched her family when she was 5. But in this novel, Ms. Bushnell has Carrie’s dad — a flighty but doting widower — raising her.”
