The Daily Nylon + Project Newsletter featured our Wren Metallic boot in the Editors Picks selection called “Mad Mad Mad Max World”. We were greeted by Meghan Cleary, shoe expert and author of “The Perfect Fit: What your Shoes Say About You“. Years ago, Meghan wrote our first press piece ever, an article in Time Out New York about the newest talent in Footwear. Now see Miss Meghan interviewing celebs on the red carpet!

We headed over to the Las Vegas Convention Center to check out the action at the Footwear News Platform Show. As mentioned on Day 1, everyone in the shoe industry has been talking about the best place to show in Vegas- World Shoe Association (WSA), Project or Platform. The show boasts an impressive line up. Our faves- Ash, Belle by Sigerson Morrison and Matt Bernson. The industry giants were there as well- Steve Madden, Sketchers and Nine West. However, where was the action?

The previous night we joined a friends’ gathering in the Venetian- on the way up to the suites, we could not help but think about how many true footwear industry experiences we have had showing at The Collections at WSA. Now- it is no longer an important show; new models of trade shows are working better. Walking down the silent stark hallway gave us an eerie feeling- at one time this was the center of all of it. Now, nothing more then a shell.

Overall, we’re happy we stayed at Project this season. It’s clear that Platform will evolve into something important for the industry and mostly likely will replace WSA as the destination for all footwear. For our growing brand, it’s important we be where our customer understands us within the contemporary fashion market. Now more then ever it is about our associations and how we live as a brand- keeping you connected to the 80%20 lifestyle.
